Goat Bubbles, Blanc de Blancs
Santa Maria Valley, 2008

Pale, light straw highlights sparkle (of course!) in this beautifully white version of Goat Bubbles. Teeny, tiny effervescent bubbles dance upward, teasing and tickling the nose. A bouquet of crisp Gala apples with hints of baking bread and key lime zest rise from the fluted glass, inviting that first refreshing sip. Meyer lemon notes, Asian pear, hints of just-ripe pineapple and stony minerality mingle on the palate, with a yin-yang of zesty acidity and creamy texture leading to a refreshing finish that adds subtle macadamia nuttiness to this refreshingly complex sparkler.

$36 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Solomon Hills,
Santa Maria Valley, 2006

A swirl reveals the spicy character of the wine, with notes of clove and smoke mingling with dried raspberry. A first sip reminds one of “sweet tart” candies with layers of bright red fruits unfolding with some tine in the glass. Notes of red currant and rhubarb are joined by cranberry and warm, rocky earth tones as the silky wine glides across the palate. A nice black cherry cola finish adds to the complexity of the wine.

Pinot Gris, Sierra Madre,
Santa Maria Valley, 2008

Crisp and refreshing at first sip, the wine delivers notes of just ripe pear, clementines and a wisp of fig to the taste buds. A lemon cream pie type of texture and taste brings a roundness to the mid-palate and then introduces a long, stony finish that refreshes and lingers. Enjoy in its youth with summer salads, spicy fish tacos or friends on the patio.
$20 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Dierberg,
Santa Maria Valley, 2007

A big burst of fruit on the first sip full of raspberry, some ripe red apple, and more spicy clove-allspice notes are then intermingled with mocha and sour cherry. A yin-yang of flavors continues to dance across the palate in this wonderfully structured and integrated wine.
$42 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Rancho Santa Rosa,
Sta. Rita Hills, 2007

A bit reserved when first uncorked, the wine “broods’ a bit before revealing cranberry and pomegranate aromas. The first sip, though, glides across the palate with a sensual silkiness and elegant texture and brings very berry flavors along the journey. Blackberry, raspberry and blueberry crumble notes mingle with a bit of sassafras and rhubarb. Fine tannins are notable on the finish.
$44 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Rio Vista, Clone 2A,
Sta. Rita Hills, 2006

Beautifully glinting from the glass with a dark scarlet color, the 2006 Pinot Noir “2A” draws you to its depth of character. Black cherry, sweet fruit, the renowned Sta. Rita Hills cola component and concentrated blueberries. Allspice and more dark cherry notes linger on the palate, entwined with tea-like soft tannins and palate-cleansing acids.

$40 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Rio Vista, Dijon Clones,
Sta. Rita Hills, 2006

The color is the first to impress, with its dark red color and deep crimson overtones. The nose is also dark – black cherries and blackberries, a bit of bramble and hints of vanilla and chocolate mint swirling with leather nuances. The wine glides across the palate from entry to finish with more dark berry fruit, traces of forest floor, young dusty tannins and a complex and layered mid-palate. Not as lean as many Sta. Rita Hills wines, the 2006 “Dijon” features lots of fruit and sophisticated gradations of acid and tannin.

$44 per bottle

Pinot Noir, Salisbury,
San Luis Obispo County, 2006

Elegant even in its youth, this Pinot Noir caresses the palate with firm yet silky texture as notes of raspberry and dried cherry mingle with smoked bacon and pomegranate. Soft tannins and a hint of cedar round on the wine, which also finishes with a lively persistence.
$36 per bottle
