Flying Goat Cellars label was designed by Bill Ervin and has become an icon for handcrafted, vineyard designated Pinot Noir and sparkling wine. The label’s caricature of a goat embodies winemaker Norm Yost’s playful but stubborn spirit and our mission of merriment. Norm’s two kids, his pygmy goats, inspired the label. Ervin is owner of EG Integrated, an advertising, branding and public relations firm based in Omaha, Nebraska.
YNOT label was designed by Lompoc native Ricardo de los Angeles, who graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in 2009. We recruited de los Angeles fresh out of college to redesign our YNOT label. Winemaker Norm Yost uses “ynot” in his email address and the concept motivated him to launch a second brand with Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir offered at a lower price. After a stint at Disney Consumer Product’s Blue Sky Think Tank, de los Angeles worked on projects for Brandiose and StreetVirus. Now he runs his own successful caricature and illustration business called Ricky Animation.
Goat Bubbles was designed by Mark Oliver, Inc. We gave Oliver poetic license to integrate the original stylized flying goat into three floating bubbles. The four part label is unique from a design standpoint. Each of our five sparkling wines has a different background color that matches the wax crown, distinguishing it from the others. Each sparkler also has the flying goats positioned distinctly within the bubbles.
